Is Homebrew a medical device?

No. Homebrew is an informational tool only. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical decisions.

Who can see my health data?

Only you. Your health data is stored securely in our database with row-level security — only your account can access it. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers. Your conversations are sent to AI providers for processing (see our Privacy Policy for details).

Which AI model does Homebrew use?

You choose. Homebrew supports OpenAI (GPT-4o), Google (Gemini), and DeepSeek. You can change your preferred provider in Settings.

What is a usage limit?

AI responses cost resources to generate. Herbalist has a weekly usage limit. Apothecary gets 10× that limit as a monthly pool — so heavier one-time features don't exhaust your allowance in a single week.

What are pay-as-you-go credits?

If you're on the Apothecary plan and you've used up your monthly budget, you can top up with credits ($5, $10, or $20). Credits are drawn after your monthly budget is exhausted and never expire.

Can I use Homebrew without signing in?

Yes — basic symptom chat is available without an account. Your data stays in your browser (localStorage) and is not synced to any server. To unlock health reports, history, and all features, sign in with Google.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time from Settings → Usage → Manage subscription. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Account → Delete account. All your personal data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

Do you use my data to train AI models?

No. We do not use your health data to train AI models. We send your conversations to AI providers via their API under terms that prohibit training on API data (where applicable — see each provider's API terms).

What happens if the AI gives wrong information?

AI can be wrong. That's why Homebrew is an informational tool, not a diagnostic one. Always verify anything Homebrew tells you with a qualified healthcare professional before acting on it.
